LESSONS
CENTRE BASED 1-2-1
Our educational ethos is to maintain the long-term consistency of good teachers and students. Therefore, every effort is made to keep students with their allocated tutors.
Our team of specialist tutors are all qualified and fully DBS approved before being engaged by the Charity, they are chosen for their expertise and friendliness.
Weekly 1-2-1 lessons are recommended for all ages and tailored to meet the personal needs of the pupil. Usual lesson duration is 30 or 45 minutes, however we recommend 20 minutes for the very young.
Shared lessons for young siblings in the initial stages of learning may be arranged as a low-cost option for families.
HOW IT WORKS
Step 1
Consultation - The potential pupil will visit the Tuition Centre to have an informal chat with the tutor before making any firm decision to book lessons with the Charity. It is very important that the tutor and pupil connect well.
Step 2
Trial Period - 4 introductory lessons to make sure you are completely happy with your tuition and lesson arrangements.
Step 3
Membership - If you want to continue after the trial, we will ask you to enter into a Quarterly Membership Subscription arrangement. This may be paid either in full or in 3 monthly instalments.
ONLINE 1-2-1
We offer Online lessons to those who may prefer and are comfortable with them. An obvious advantage is that they can be carried out at home anywhere in the UK. We at NWMTC don't recommend online long term - especially for aspiring young students showing evidence of substantial development as regards ability and enthusiasm - but 'e-learning' can certainly help beginners to ascertain whether or not they enjoy music making and whether or not they wish to continue with the experience. That said, we do not recommend online lessons for complete beginners under the age of 10.
Some adult students may be happy to take online lessons long term, being content to just improve their musical ability and to play for their own pleasure and self improvement. We at NWMTC believe that such pastimes should be nurtured and encouraged along with all other aspects of musical education and activities. Should they feel they are getting along well - or they may discover new found talent - there is always the option to change to Face to Face lessons at any time.
