Our History
North Wales Music Tuition Centres was established in 1989 as Colwyn Music Studios and was based in Colwyn Bay, North Wales.
Later a second Tuition Centre was opened at Rhuddlan, near Rhyl, Denbighshire and the organisation was renamed to North Wales Music Tuition. Six years later in the year 2000 the 3rd centre was opened at Garden City (near Queensferry) Flintshire. In November 2009 a 4th Centre was acquired in Wrexham and formally opened in January, 2010.
On October 4th, 2002, the organisation was successful in becoming a registered Charitable Unincorporated Association and in May 2008, became a Charitable Incorporated Association.
Our services are being constantly upgraded and developed by our Board of Trustees. These volunteers offer their skills, expertise and experience in order to help give a thorough and professional service.
The Charity is constantly on the look-out for Trustees from all fields (Musical knowledge not required). If you are interested please contact us
How We Operate
The Charity's academic year is divided into 4, thirteen week "Quarters". All pupils begin with a trial of 4 lessons to test compatibility, etc. after which lessons continue weekly throughout the Quarter.
Tuition fees are paid directly to your tutor and a quarterly membership subscription is paid to the Charity by Standing Order.
Regular weekly attendance is encouraged throughout the year, thereby promoting optimum development and progress.
Holidays are arranged through consultation with your tutor. Tutors usually opt to take all the Bank Holidays, Easter weekend and the Christmas period as holidays.
We believe 1-2-1 Tuition to be the finest. It ensures that the time you pay for is devoted to you and not divided between several other pupils as with "group" tuition. Also, there is no waiting for others to catch-up before you can make further progress. This is a situation that cannot be avoided as regards group tuition.
We feel confident that 1-2-1 tuition at one of our Centres will help you or your child to develop the potential to its highest level -- whether you are seeking a career in music, performing in eisteddfodau or amateur productions, concerts, etc., or simply to enjoy a worthwhile and self-satisfying leisure activity.
NWMTC Lottery
Anyone can support our efforts by joining the monthly lottery. At just £12 per year you will be assigned a "lucky number". A draw is made each month and the winner gets a £50 cheque! We encourage all members and their families to support the NWMTC through the lottery. If you are a member, please contact us and we'll send you the form to sign-up!
'FRIENDS' ASSOCIATION
These are members who volunteer their skills and knowledge in order to help improve the services and facilities offered by the Charity, with emphasis on their own particular Centre. All parents and adult pupils, tutors etc. are eligible to become a 'FRIEND'. We need expertise, input and skills from all walks of life. There are no committee meetings to attend and no long term commitment. If you are willing to help us make your Centre a better place for you or your child simply contact us and leave us your details
